FOURCAST.ZIP contains many compressed files that have been zipped up into a single file. To use FOURCAST on your computer, complete the following steps. Step A. DOWNLOADING (to your computer): Use windows explorer (click on start, programs, windows explorer). Click on drive (c:). Create a new folder (click on file, new, folder). Name the new folder "FOURCAST" (same as directory c:\fourcast) on your hard disk drive. Complete and submit the order form to Download FOURCAST.ZIP into the FOURCAST folder. Step B. INSTALLATION: Either double click on FOURCAST.ZIP (which is now a file in the fourcast folder) or click on start, run, type c:\fourcast\fourcast.zip then press enter. SINGLE USER SETUP: Follow the WinZip instructions to install the program. *If you encounter a message such as "unable to copy ver.dl_ file," or "unable to copy setup1.ex_ file," this is due to a date conflict. You must remove the file named VER.DL from your windows folder and VER.DLL from your windows/system or winnt/system folder and repeat the setup procedure (double click on setup.exe).* Follow the setup instructions on the screen. Use the default target directory c:\FOURCAST. _______________________________________________________________________________ MULTI-USER NETWORK SETUP: Install the program on the server & on each computer as follows: Step 0. From any computer, copy all FOURCAST disk files to the server. The suggested server directory name is FOURCAST. Step 1. From any computer, from the File menu of Program manager, choose Run, type server drive:\FOURCAST\setup and press enter. Follow the setup instructions on the screen. Set the install directory to server drive:\FOURCAST. Step 2. For each & every computer: Step 2a. From File menu of Program manager, choose Run, type server drive:\FOURCAST\setup then press enter. Follow the setup instructions on the screen. Set the install directory to c:\FOURCAST. Step 2b. Set the properties of the FOURCAST icon (short cut) as follows: Set the target (command line) to server drive:\FOURCAST\fourcast.exe. Set the start in (work) directory to c:\FOURCAST. Step 2c. To save space, delete the file c:\FOURCAST\fourcast.exe from each computer. One copy of "fourcast.exe" will remain on the server. To start FOURCAST, click on the newly created FOURCAST icon. If FOURCAST was previously installed, then your data files will be retained. Only program files will be updated. *If you encounter a message such as "unable to copy ver.dl_ file," or "unable to copy setup1.ex_ file," this is due to a date conflict.
